Zvakanaka offers accommodation near Louis Trichardt for those seeking a romantic getaway for two, a delightful family cottage for four and four secluded camp sites. The farm is a perfect stop-over for Beit Bridge.
Zvakanaka means “Everything’s OK!” or, if you like, “Lekker”, and
that’s the feel that we’d like to impart to our guests.
Zvakanaka farm is 74 hectares in area and the three main vegetation types are grassland, wetland and semi-deciduous scrub-forest. There are numerous trails cut on the farm and, depending on how much energy you want to exert, you can either take gentle strolls or more serious walks to the very top of the mountain where there are stunning views in all directions. The bird-life on the farm is plentiful and varied – the cliffs, grasslands, forest and the wetland ensure a wide range of species. Many of our guests express their delight in the chorus of bird calls during their time on the farm – particularly at dusk and dawn.
Zvakanaka farm is perfectly situated, both for people wanting an easily accessible destination for a tranquil escape, or for those who need a base from which to explore the richly diverse surroundings. If you want to visit the fascinating and beautiful Mapungubwe, say, but would rather overnight on the cool slopes of the Soutpansberg, then you can easily take a day drive – the trip to the park takes approximately two hours via Musina.
There are three types of accommodation available on the farm : Igababa Cabin, Madala’s Cottage and Zvakanaka Camp Site. One of the bedrooms at the house has a WiFi HotSpot. This bedroom has its own entrance so there’s no need for us to be here to use it. It is uncapped and free. Both the cabin and cottage are strictly no-smoking zones and we ask that, if you are smokers, that you smoke outside as the smell of cigarette smoke clings to the thatch and stays forever. If you really do not think you can comply with this request we would ask that you rather not book with us. Please also kindly note that NO PETS of any sort are allowed on our farm.
A number of sites for tents and space for one or two caravans are available at Zvakanaka – all boasting wonderful mountain views and are situated down near the wetland – far from the cabin and cottage.
Here Thick-billed and Golden Weavers make their nests, White-faced duck may fly past at dusk and dawn, the Long-Crested Eagle enjoys hunting in the grassland and the Gorgeous Bushrike tantalises all day.
The dawn chorus of birdsong across the wetland is rivalled only by the evening cacophony of birdsong including both species of Guineafowl, and the numerous Francolin, including Shelley’s.
There are four camps, William’s, Sam’s, Chimangy Moonrise, and Shady John – named after our employees who work on the farm and who helped to build them.
The four camps share the ablution block consisting of four toilets and two showers.
Each of these has their own entrance and basin – no more brushing teeth rubbing elbows with a total stranger! The ablutions are unique and fully electrified. There is a fridge/freezer and a washing machine for communal use.
The campsites are quite far apart and each camp is carefully designed for maximum privacy. Sam’s, William’s and Chimangi Moonrise sites each have:

o A water point
o An electric kettle
o A 4 plate gas stove
o A sink with a cold water tap
o A number of sites for tents
o An electric light and a power point
o A braai stand and ground fireplace
o A shelter offering shade and some protection from the weather
Shady John’s site has a braai stand, water point, power point and a ground fire place.
No Minimum per site and 10 maximum (negotiable depending on other bookings).
